Frida KAHLO, Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo Calderon.
Wooden Leg Frida, as she is popularly known.
Frida was confined to bed as a result of polio when she was six years old and an accident when she was eighteen. Thus, Frida's already difficult life began to become even more difficult. Frida was introduced to painting under these difficult conditions, and life put her on the path to becoming the warrior Frida Kahlo we know and love. She made self-portraits with the mirror her family had placed on the ceiling. Kahlo, who had 55 self-portraits, had limited space to paint and canvas sizes were fixed due to health problems. One of the exceptional paintings he painted was "TWO FRIDA". With this painting, Frida also told us how lonely she actually was. His life, which was restricted due to health problems, had completely returned to him. She explained this with the words "I paint my own portraits, because I am alone most of the time and I am the person I know best."
When the treatments were completed, Frida started to walk and began to enter many circles with her art. His art first introduced him to Tina Modotti, and the path he followed resulted in Diego Rivera. Rivera said, "Even though you understood, you hurt me." Maybe Frida knew many men, or perhaps Frida was not the only woman Rivera knew. But there was a bond between them that only the two of them could understand. One day, Frida would use the name 'accident' for Rivera and the following words would come to this day: 'I had two big accidents, Diego. Tram and you. You were the worst! ''
This woman, who endured unbearable pain, found healing through painting. She opened exhibitions in many countries and trained student groups called "LOS FRIDOS". She never gave up, even though she lost her leg, she continued her passion for painting.
Frida KAHLO was a warrior woman who suffered a lot to become.
Why should I have feet to walk? I have wings to fly.
